Welcome

We're glad you're here!

Valley Hunter Vizslas has been a labor of love since 1973 and, though we are based in the United States, dogs with Valley Hunter in the pedigree can be found in Hungary, England, Austria, Finland, Denmark, Kenya and Israel.

This international perspective provides us with access to breeders around the world, who have been an important part of shaping our breeding program.

We think the most important job any vizsla has is being a wonderful companion/pet. Next, we encourage them to solve the problem of creating world peace! We like a temperament that allows them to be relaxed in the house and run like crazy in the field.

We want our pups to be good enough so that any serious amateur/novice can be competitive with them in all areas of play, such as showing, field, agility, obedience and so on.

All breeders have a picture of their ideal vizsla. Mine is to create the true "DIY" dog. One whose conformation is so good that I can follow it into the show ring and win, or take it into a bird field and watch it hunt like a demon and have perfect bird manners; a dog that is so intelligent it will read the obedience rules and take me through those titles. (OK, OK, I may have to learn the rules as well!) I want this vizsla to be around to a ripe old age and still be going strong.

With that goal in mind, we continue to learn from other breeders and the wonderful folks who own our dogs, enjoying the successes we have had along the way.

Valley Hunter on TV

A few years ago we were asked to be part of a television piece highlighting the vizsla, so we grabbed a few of our friends and spent a day with the television crew. It was a lot of fun to do and provides a short introduction to this wonderful breed.
